There has to be a better way

Many of my favorite design pursuits have come from firsthand frustration. While good design certainly can't rely solely on one's own perspective, there's no denying that being able to draw from the richness of your own memories, emotions, and behaviors can massively benefit your exploration of a problem and potential solutions.

Developing this figma resource has been a perfect example of this. I've created my fair share of effective presentations, but increasingly felt the effort to get them polished and brand-aligned was eating up too much time and hampering our team's effectiveness.

There are libraries and templates out there, but most that I've come across lack sophistication, configurability, and most importantly, real world use cases.

Build it yourself

Seeing an unmet need, I decided to take a stab at building out my own slide library, which quickly became quite the labor of love. I obsessed over every component, tweaking auto-layout & nested properties for maximum flexibility and ease of use. Because I'm also a target user, I've been able to test it, find rough patches, and make refinements simply in my normal course of work.

Once I was pretty happy with the experience and put together a "documentation/how-to" section I published it as my first shared resource on Figma Community. Making things to help myself is definitely rewarding, but it's even more exciting to see other people resonate and find value as well. It was also a fun process to research and develop some strategy on optimizing the resource page for search results and popularity.

Overall I'm really glad to have it out in the wild, and look forward to updating it with more components and templates as often as I can.

Try it out and let me know what you think!
